Mitten and thumb form, Canterbury, NH

Object ID:
1952.4645.1-.2
Community:
New Hampshire, Canterbury
Description

The body of the mitten, 1950.4645.1, has an irregular shape. The bottom is flat with pinked-like edges. One side curves in slightly until about half way and then grows again in width rounding off at the top into the other side. This side is similar to the other side except that rather than curving inward at the waist there is a protruding oval. The oval is where the cylinder "thumb" (1952.4645.2) is meant to be placed. The detached thumb is a light, cylindrical, piece of wood.
