Description

A three-tiered sewing box with truncated spherical feet. The first and largest tier of the sewing box is 7 3/8" x 7 3/8" and 3 11/16" h. The front of this tier is a drawer with two asymmetrical compartments inside. The back face is dovetail-joined to the sides. The top of the bottom tier is slightly larger than the tier's sides. Just before the second tier there is a short ledge 5/16" wide. The second tier is a smaller rectangular box than the first and is 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" and 2 3/8" h. The corners are dovetail-jointed. In the middle of each face are three holes approximately 1" apart. This tier's top is slightly larger than the sides of the box. There is a raised square ledge 3/8" wide 5/8" in from the ends. The third tier is a pincushion covered in brown fabric with a yellow and red floral pattern. The fabric is secured to the tier by metal pins with white spherical ends. There are three more metal pins stuck in the top so that all that is visible is the white sphere.
