Last, Shoe
Shoe last, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe. The last has a round toe, from which the height of the last increases toward the instep. The last above the instep has been shaved and plateaus at the top. 1/2" below the top there is a 9/32" diameter through-hole. The hole has a plaster-like substance in it, which blocks the hole on one side and has a hole at its center in the other side. From the top the heel curve extends for 2 11/16" to the seat. The seat sides are curved to form the waist before growing to the widest point at the last joints then tapering to form the toe.
