Last, Shoe
Shoe last, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe. The shoe last has a pointed toe, from which the height of the last increases toward the instep. Following the instep is a flat oval top with a scratched inscription. 14/32" below the top is a through-hole 5/16" in diameter. The hole is filled with a plaster-like substance, with one side fully blocked and the other with a small circular hole. From the top of the last the heel curve extends 2 1/2" to the seat. The seat's sides curve to form the waist and then widen to the joint before tapering to form the toe.
