Last, Shoe
Shoe last, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe. The last has a square toe and toe cap, cut at a sharp angle creating a 3/8" h face with a single nail hole in the center. From there the last continues in an upward sloping angle until the top where it plateaus. This angled cut-out was meant to receive a last wedge. Below the top there is a through-hole 11/32" diameter. From the last's top the heel curve extends 1 15/16" to the seat. The seat's sides are curved to form the waist and then widens to the joint before tapering to the toe. The seat is covered with numerous nail holes.
