Description

Red wool flannel, machine sewn. Ribbon ties. Replaced red hood lining. Pleated hood and back. Interior edges pinked and scalloped. Bears blue label with gold embroidered text and design, "The Dorothy." Closure by two hook-and-eyes (one hook missing). Pockets on interior sides.

Notes

Donor states that the cloak was purchased from a group of Shakers selling goods at a seaside town near Boston by her grandfather for her grandmother shortly after they were married in 1906. Her grandmother gave it to her in 1955; she wore the cloak as an evening cape for several years.
