Portrait of Eldress Hester Ann Adams (1817-1888) probably showing her in her mid-60s. Having come to the Shakers at Canterbury, NH, in 1826 as a young girl, she was appointed to the Canterbury Ministry at the age of 27 and eventually to the Maine Ministry in 1859 where she remained until her death.
