Eldress Sarah Collins Making a Braided Rug
1935-1940
Description
Seen here is Eldress Sarah Ann Collins (1855-1947) of Mt. Lebanon, NY. She is shown making a braided rug, a skill she developed in her later years. On the back of this photograph is written: "Sr. Mary Dahm said that her hands were always gnarled; she thinks it was infantile rickets." The series of postcards hanging on the shelves to her right are a series depicting the journey over the mountain and NY/MA state line traveling from Pittsfield, MA, to New Lebanon, NY.
