Stereograph
View of the Office, Dwelling, and Sisters' Workshop, Second Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
This view was made from the east side of the road to Lebanon Springs looking south. The photograph shows, from right to left, the Second Family's Office ( ), Dwelling ( ), and Sisters' Workshop ( ). Two Shaker Brothers are posed in the picture, one leaning against the picket fence and the other atop a carriage mounting platform. Two Sisters are behind the picket fence near the gate that led to the Office. Of special note, the sign over the doorcap on the Office reads "Office & Store" and although it had been repainted to say "Chair Store" and later, "Chair Shop" is in the collection of the Shaker Museum|Mount Lebanon. Inscribed in pencil on the back of the card, "Second Family Mt Lebanon N. Y."
