Inscribed on the back, "Gardens and Summer House" along with the initials "W. P." identifying this photograph as being associated with the West Pittsfield Shakers. The building to the left of the Summer House is the Sisters Workshop. The small barn-like building left of the Sisters Workshop still stands, in a reduced form, at Hancock Shaker Village and was built at the same time as the Sisters Workshop, 1869, to store firewood for the Sisters Workshop.
