The inscription on the back of this photograph, "Eldress Polly Lewis, Aged 73 Years," enables a date of circa 1888 to be assigned to this portrait. The photographer, R. C. Watkins, of Pittsfield, MA, was attempting to sell his studio in 1892 due to poor health further supporting this time period for the photograph.
