Oval box painted yellow, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Steam-bent maple oval box (a) and lid (b) rims. Four swallow-tails on the box and one on the lid, secured with copper tacks. White pine headers held by copper nails or escutcheon pins with rounded heads. Appears to have been stained red-brown and then washed yellow. The lid rim is stained but with no wash, and the top is stained and washed yellow. This is possibly a #1 size box in an 11-box series.
