Description

Oval box form of white pine and wire nails, expandable. Mold made up of two layers; the top a single piece of wood and the bottom made up of four pieces. WIth the two side pieces and the end filler secured, the mold was cut and sanded to an ellipse, the cut cross-wise in half. A slide was secured into space between side strips at end without filler, a stop pin driven into other end and a stop block nailed into side strips covering the slide strip. Finally a notch is cut into an edge. The arris along either edge of the center cut in the top are chamfered and wedge marks are visible at three locations along cut.
