Mold, Basket Weaving
Basket form, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Face-turned bowl-shaped basket mold of white pine. Bottom has finger grip turned into it and a 1" diameter hole drilled blind in the center. Apparently the mold support broke through the stopped hole because the 1" diameter hole was then plugged with a maple dowel, a 3/4" diameter hole drilled through the mold, and a 3/4" diameter maple plug inserted into the top to stop the hole. At the transition from flat to rounded on the bottom, four 9/16" diameter white pine plugs are inserted at roughly equal arc lengths around the transition. Illegible inscription.
