Description

Oval box form. Elliptical shaped block of white pine, about 3/4" thick with about 2 1/4" wide strip of galvanized sheet metal wrapped around its circumference and nailed to pine block. Two elongated oval holes are drilled/carved to either side of minor axis. The four holes are positioned 1/4" in from edge of pine block.

Notes

Apparently used to bend veneer bands to elliptical shape after steaming. Possibly made by William Perkins. This form, as well as form #7488, is virtually identical to form #7487 which is signed "Master Pattern" by Brother William Perkins.
