Description

Apple shovel with trapezoidal iron or steel blade to which an iron shaft/tang has been hammer welded. The tang is inserted into the tapered end of a between-centers turned maple handle shaft. Driven over the tapered handle shaft end is a conical ferrule of what appears to be nickel-plated copper. The upper end of the handle shaft has been carved to form a D handle with the round grip reinforced by an iron rivet.

Notes

Used for turning and stirring drying apple slices.
