Description

Hand punch. The punch is made up of a turned wooden handle and metal punch. The base of the handle has been cut down to create a flat-top pyramidal shape. At the butt of the handle there is a circular piece of metal, with an indented center, set into the wooden handle. The punch extends from the handle and tapers. The punch has nine flat sides which are rounded off as the end of the punch nears. Near the center of the punch's length the metal is grooved slightly around. The punch's head has a 3/32" diameter and has one outer circle with a recessed center.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
