Historical notes

The Lincoln Farm Association was formed in April of 1906 to ensure the preservation of Lincoln's birthplace as a national park. One of the association's trustees, Robert Collier, purchased the site and a log cabin believed to be the birthplace building, and the association raised funds to build a memorial building on the site. Everyone who contributed between .25 and $25 to the association received one of these certificates. In 1911 the memorial building was completed, and the Lincoln Farm Association turned over the site to the State of Kentucky. Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Park was established in 1916.
