A Christmas Story, Machine Poetry The visit of Santa Claus, 1898. Verses pasted together to form a roll of paper (1 3/8 inches by circa 20 feet) and mounted in a box (probably a Shaker made “cash register,” Acc No 769) Turning the crank would advance the poem one verse and ring the register bell. Used as part of a Christmas celebration.
